2nd Quarter - PHOTO PROJECTS

Christmas Project!
Mrs. Monks’ Math Class
10/12/09

This is a “found-object” project designed to have the students look at things in their natural environment, and see if a shape resembles something. The students are to photograph between 10-15 shapes depending on their topic (SHAPES, NUMBERS or LETTERS OF THE ALPHABET) and have the developed photos turned in to me by December 14th.

Conditions of this project:
·         These are to be “found” objects
·         no objects conveniently dropped into the shape: like the letter “Q”
·         no objects forced into unnatural positions: like a blade of grass bent into a trapezoid
·         no objects made: like stomping the number “8” into the snow
·         no objects made from the human/animal form: remember the “YMCA” dance? no-no
·         If an object is found, no other photo’s can be taken from the same object:
·         The letter “M” cannot be flipped into the letter “W”
·         If you have a digital camera, I do not require the photos to be developed on photo paper, as long as I have 10-15 images on paper, of some sort, to me by December 14th.
·         Wal-Mart, Hoffman’s, Alco, and other near-by establishments have disposable cameras for around $3.00, and most of these companies develop film as well.

These projects are not due for another 9 weeks - 4 days before Christmas Break. Get the project done ASAP to alleviate procrastination, and remember that photos take time to develop.
